How we started
Nut ‘n Bean was born in 2011 in San Francisco. This two-girl company creates artisan nut butters from scratch, many flavors of hummus, and all sorts of nut and bean based dips and spreads to satisfy any craving. The idea was sparked at an annual holiday party thrown by owners Katie Griffin and Yvonne Portra when they lived in San Diego. Armed with tons of ideas, a passion for homemade food, and the desire to share their creations with others, they set out for San Francisco, planted their roots, and got to work selling the goods at several Farmer’s Markets throughout the Bay Area. Nut ‘n Bean has taken off and they are now an established entity with more loyal customers and new friends than they ever thought possible in such a short amount of time. Nut ‘n Bean’s ambition is to continue the newly established tradition of being the supplier of everybody’s favorite artisan nut butters, hummus, dips and spreads.
